WAFU B U-17 clash between Nigeria and Togo rescheduled due to waterlogged pitch

The WAFU B U-17 match between Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets and Togo’s Junior Hawks, originally scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed to Thursday due to a waterlogged pitch, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Golden Eaglets are seeking a victory in their final CAF WAFU B U-17 group stage match against Togo to secure a place in the next round of the regional competition.

The match, which was set to be held at the Rugby Pitch at the University of Ghana, will now take place on Thursday morning at the same venue.

According to U-17 media officer Francis Achi, there were no preparations ahead of the event, and initial skepticism about whether the game should proceed led to its rescheduling.

“Should the game go on or not? That is the conversation among the WAFU officials here at the rugby pitch, University of Ghana in Accra. Some want the game rescheduled, others say no,” he wrote.

After securing a draw against Burkina Faso in the opening match and a 1-0 victory over Niger, thanks to a goal from Rapha Adams who capitalized on a defensive mix-up, the Golden Eaglets have accumulated four points so far in the competition.

Coach Manu Garba faces increased pressure as this final match will determine his team’s fate in their journey to the World Cup tournament.
