English Premier League club Chelsea are planning to test Napoli’s resolve by offering Romelu Lukaku, one young player, and €90 million for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen has been brilliant for Napoli since he joined the club four years ago. The Nigerian striker has registered 75 goals and 18 assists in 130 appearances for the Partenopeans in his four seasons.
Last season, he also won the Capocannoniere after helping Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.
Following his impressive performances, Osimhen has become a target for some top clubs in Europe. Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG appear to be in contention for the Nigeria’s signature, but Napoli would demand a huge fee before sanctioning the move.
But in a new development, per transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea appear to have made a concrete offer. The London-based club have offered Napoli €90 million with Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Roma and an unnamed young player.
This could be tempting for Napoli, as they are looking to employ Antonio Conte, who has a very good relationship with Lukaku from their time at Inter Milan. Also, they will have an extra €90 million to invest in another player.
However, Napoli could still insist on €120 million for Osimhen. By the end of the campaign, things would become clearer. But from the look of things, Osimhen will leave Naples in the summer.
