“What a player” – Sunday Oliseh hails Man City star despite fall to Real Madrid

Real Madrid showed Manchester City the exit door in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final following a 4-5 victory on aggregate

Former Super Eagles star, Sunday Oliseh, pays tribute to Belgian international Kelvin De Bruyne for his pivotal role in Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid, Soccernet.ng reports.

Despite a fierce battle at the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola’s side succumbed to the Spanish team, with Oliseh singling out De Bruyne for his crucial equalizing goal that ultimately led to a penalty shootout.

With a 3-3 aggregate scoreline from the first leg in Madrid, the highly anticipated second-leg clash saw Rodrygo open the scoring for Real Madrid, momentarily silencing the home fans by tapping in a rebound past Ederson.

In the second half, De Bruyne mirrored the rebound scenario by capitalizing on a loose ball to bring Manchester City level, overturning their initial disadvantage in the competition.

In response to De Bruyne’s performance, Oliseh took to his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter) to praise Man City’s captain, acknowledging his exceptional abilities as a player.

“[Kelvin] De Bruyne!!! What a player,” he wrote.

Following a full 90 minutes of play and extra time, both teams resorted to a penalty shootout to determine the victor.

However, a missed penalty from Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic secured Real Madrid’s ticket to the next round with a 5-4 victory on aggregate.
