Super Eagles and Atalanta B.C. forward, Ademola Olajade Lookman, was instrumental in his side’s semi-final clash as they eased to a 4-1 victory over Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 26-year-old came off the bench with twenty minutes left on the clock and was involved in two goals, scoring one and creating another.
Atalanta fell to a 1-nil defeat in the first leg against Fiorentina and were hungry to turn things around in Bergamo. Eight minutes into the game, Dutch midfielder, Teun Koopmeiners levelled the tie with a brilliant bottom-corner finish into Pietro Terracciano’s goal.
Atalanta had the numerical advantage in the 53rd minute when Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic was given his marching orders for a foul on Gianluca Scammaca who was through on goal, denying the Italian a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Lucas Martinez Quarta levelled the scores on the night for Fiorentina, heading home from a Cristiano Biraghi free-kick, turning the tie on its head.
Scammaca levelled the tie with a brilliant acrobatic strike, meeting Charles De Ketelaere’s cross at the perfect time before Lookman added Atalanta’s third of the night in the additional minutes of the ninety, getting on the end of a counter-attacking move by Gasperini’s men. Watch the goal here.
The former Everton man turned provider for Atalanta’s fourth goal a few minutes after grabbing one for himself. He brilliantly drew two defenders two himself before calmly picking out Mario Pasalic who tapped home to send La Dea to the Coppa Italia final.
The Coppa Italia final will be played on the 15th of May at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. The game will see Atalanta lock horns with Juventus as the match will see both sides fight for their only chance at winning a trophy this season.
