Transfer: Lazio eye £20m rated Super Eagles midfielder

Fisayo was part of the Super Eagles' 25-man squad called up during the October International break to face Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

Super Eagles and Hatayspor midfielder, Oluwafisayo Ayodele-Bashiru, is currently being eyed by Italian Serie A side, Lazio, ahead of a potential summer move, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former Manchester City man has been in decent form for the Turkish side this season, scoring six seven goals and providing six assists in 35 games for Güneyin Yıldızı.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who can also play in central midfield has been linked with PSV Eindhoven and AC Milan in the past, and now Lazio have joined the race.

The coach, Igor Tudor, has identified the Nigerian as the glue to the club’s attack ahead of next season and is keen to have the deal wrapped up before the club’s pre-season campaign kicks off.

As per Turkish outlet, Sports Digitale, Hatayspor are willing to part ways with the former Sheffield Wednesday man, as long as Lazio meets their £10m asking price. The deal will also include a future sell-on clause which could see the transfer fees rise to £20m.

The two-time Serie A Champions are hoping they can reduce Hatayspor’s asking price when they begin negotiations but are also well aware that other teams are also looking at the Nigerian which could lead to a bidding war.

Fisayo was part of the Super Eagles’ 25-man squad called up during the October International break by the NFF to face Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

He made his Super Eagles debut in Nigeria’s 3-2 win over Mozambique on the 16th of October, 2023 at the Estádio Municipal de Albufeira.
