Samuel Chukwueze continues to dazzle in AC Milan’s commanding victory over Lecce

Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze joined AC Milan from Villarreal CF during the 2023 Summer transfer window

Super Eagles forward, Samuel Chukwueze, continues to shine for AC Milan as they secured a dominant victory over Lecce in their Serie A encounter, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

Chukwueze, who joined the Rossoneri from Villarreal CF during the 2023 Summer transfer window for a reported fee of around 30 million euros, has faced scrutiny for his performances, both at club and national levels. His display at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations drew criticism.

However, in a recent interview with Soccernet.ng, Chukwueze expressed his determination to prove himself and fight for his place in the team amid rumours of a potential January transfer.

“I’m not leaving because I need to prove myself. They signed me for quite a good amount of money,” Chukwueze told Soccernet.ng. “So, I just have to focus and work hard. It’s a big club, so I have to show myself and show my potential. If I didn’t want to play, I wouldn’t have signed for the club.”

In recent matches, Chukwueze has shown signs of improvement, scoring his debut goal against Verona and putting in an impressive performance against Fiorentina.

He continued his good form by assisting Christian Pulisic’s goal in Milan’s 3-0 win over Lecce, playing the full 90 minutes.

The victory saw Oliver Giroud and Rafael Leao also finding the back of the net for Stefano Pioli’s side.

With Milan currently second in the Serie A standings, trailing Inter Milan by 11 points, Chukwueze will be eager to further demonstrate his abilities as they push for their 19th league title.
