PSG outline bargaining chips to beat Chelsea to Osimhen’s signature

Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor James Osimhen, is in a hot transfer saga, with Chelsea and French Champions, Paris Saint-Germain, at the fore-front of the race, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 25-year-old forward is seen as an ideal replacement for the departing Kylian Mbappe by the PSG hierarchy while Chelsea are looking to reinstate a central figure in attack, as Nicolas Jackson hasn’t been able to prove himself so far this season.

Osimhen renewed his contract with Napoli late last year until the summer of 2026, and a release clause of €120 million was included in the deal.

Chelsea will need to sell homegrown players in the summer to balance the books and avoid FFP breaches if they’re to have any chance of signing the former Lille man. Ian Maatsen is reported to be on his way out of the club in the summer, with Borussia Dortmund interested in signing the Dutchman.

Due to the huge transfer fee Napoli demand, PSG are looking for alternative means to bring Osimhen to the club without splashing €120 million, with the hopes that Napoli will accept the exchange of players as part of the deal.

According to the Italian media Il Mattino (h/t Sport.fr), PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos and his deputies have planned to make an offer with one or two players in the deal to lure Osimhen away from Naples.

As per PSG Talk, Le Parisien are willing to include Carlos Soler, Marco Asensio, Lucas Beraldo, and Lee Kang-in in their official bid for the former Wolfsburg striker.

Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, revealed that Chelsea are in “slow” negotiations with Napoli over Osimhen, giving PSG an edge to launch their official bid and wait for the response from the defending Italian Champions.

Osimhen has scored 13 goals and recorded 3 assists in 20 Serie A games this season.
