NPFL: Biffo loses in Sporting Lagos debut, Kano Pillars put four past Gombe, Finidi George’s Enyimba play out stalemate against Sunshine Stars

Soccernet.ng brings the major highlights of an action-packed matchday 31 in the 2023/2024 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Abia Warriours secured a 1-nil win over Bayelsa United. An 84th-minute strike by Obi Samson further threw Bayelsa United into relegation troubles as they’re 17th on the NPFL table.

Kano Pillars ran riot at home as they put four past Gombe United. Umar Shehu and legendary NPFL midfielder, Rabiu Ali scored two goals a-piece to pour salt on Gombe’s injuries. Gombe United are currently 20th in the league.

Abdullahi Biffo would have hoped for better starts with Sporting Lagos as they fell to a two-goal deficit against Katsina United. Andrew Idoko and Michael Ibe’s goals secured all three points for United who now have dreams of finishing in the top four.

Emmanuel Ogbole scored a 90+9 minute winner to seal three points for Kwara United against Akwa United while the game between Lobi Stars and Bendel Insurance ended in a goalless draw.

Niger Tornadoes put two past Doma United. Hussaini Mohammed and Bashiru Usman got on the scoresheet to return Tornadoes to winning ways after they fell to a 4-1 defeat in the previous matchday.

Plateau United scraped a 1-0 win over Remo Stars. Both sides are now 4th and 5th respectively on the NPFL table, with 50 points for each side.

Enugu Rangers stay top of the league despite falling to a 2-nil defeat away to Rivers United while Sunshine Stars played a 1-1 draw with Finidi George’s Enyimba International.
