Paris FC goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie is on the verge of becoming the first Nigeria international to win the Player of the Month award in the Feminine Division 1, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nnadozie has been nominated for the Best Player of the Month trophy for March in D1 Arkema after an excellent outing for Paris FC.
The Super Falcons star kept two clean sheets in four games for the capital club, powering the Parisians to three victories.
Nnadozie notably brilliantly saved a penalty from Inès Benyahia in a thrilling clash against Le Havre minutes before teammate Ribadeira netted the winner for Paris FC in a 3-2 victory.
The former Rivers Angels star will, however, battle two other players – the Paris Saint-Germain duo of Tabitha Chawinga and Grace Geyoro – for the prestigious honour.
Chawinga earned her nomination after scoring six times and providing four assists in four games in March. The 27-year-old striker, on loan at Paris SG from China’s Wuhan Jianghan University, is the league’s top scorer with 17 goals and top passer (10 assists).
PSG captain Geyoro is also in the running for the POTM award after contributing two goals and two assists in the period under review.
Nnadozie has been as exceptional for Nigeria as she had been for Paris FC.
The 23-year-old, the reigning Africa Female Goalkeeper of the Year, has kept an incredible four clean sheets in her last four games for the Super Falcons.
The young shot-stopper helped Nigeria beat Cameroon over two legs in February, recording a goalless draw away from home and a 1-0 win in Abuja.
With Nnadozie in impressive form in goal again, the Super Falcons repeated similar results against South Africa in April to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
It is the first time Nigeria will make it to the Olympics in 16 years.
