“Live with it” – Tolu Arokodare fires shots ahead of Genk vs Anderlecht playoff showdown

Tolu Arokodare joined KRC Genk during the 2023 January transfer window as a replacement for Paul Onuachu who moved to join Southampton

Super Eagles-eligible forward Tolu Arokodare has delivered a fiery message to Anderlecht ahead of KRC Genk’s Championship playoff clash, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

Arokodare’s transfer saga saw him on the verge of signing with Anderlecht, only for Paul Onuachu’s move from Genk to Southampton to trigger a last-minute hijack by Genk on transfer deadline day.

This turn of events has left Anderlecht fans disgruntled, and tensions are expected to be high when the two teams meet at Cegeka Park.

Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, Arokodare defended his decision, asserting his choice in his transfer to join Genk.

“I just made a choice and they have to live with it. I had an option, and – sorry – I saw a better one in Genk. Everyone would have done the same. Moreover, if Anderlecht had wanted me so badly, they would not have waited until deadline day.” Arokodare stated.

Arokodare emphasized that the upcoming match against Anderlecht holds no special significance for him personally, stating Genk’s aim to reduce their deficit at all cost.

“I don’t care if it’s Anderlecht or Union. The only reason this is special is because they are at the top and we want to reduce our deficit.” he added.

With Anderlecht leading the Championship Playoff table with 38 points and Genk trailing with 31 points, a victory for Genk would narrow the gap between the two sides.
