Another Nigerian set to join Stanley Nwabli at Chippa United

Sani Faisal made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the team's 2-1 loss to Mexico, playing as a defensive midfielder.

Super Eagles and Kano Pillars left-back, Sani Faisal, is set to join South African Premier Soccer League club, Chippa United, at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old versatile defender can also play as a defensive midfielder, a wing-back and as a central defender in the heart of the defence.

As per Snl 24, Faisal’s move to Chippa United is as good as done. As soon as the NPFL 2023/2024 comes to a close, the defender will become club teammates with Nigeria’s number one goalie, Stanley Nwabali. Daniel Akpeyi, James Okwuosa and Augustine Kwem are other Nigerian footballers to have featured for the Chilli Boys in the past.

“Faisal Sani is close to concluding a deal with Chippa United. He is more than likely to play in South Africa next season. He is a good defender, but a move to Chippa has been agreed in principle from him,” the report read.

Nwabali on the other hand, has been identified as a primary target for two South African sides, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, while Victor Boniface’s former team, Union Saint-Gilloise are also keen on his services.

Sani has two Nigeria caps under his belt. He made his Super Eagles debut in Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to Mexico in May 2022, coming on at the start of the second half to play as a defensive midfielder. He featured in the team’s 1-0 loss to Ecuador a week later, starting the game on the left wing.
