Italian journalist Giuseppe di Stefano has expressed dissatisfaction at Samuel Chukwueze’s performances since he joined AC Milan, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze left Spanish Laliga side Villarreal last season after spending six years at the club. AC Milan snapped up his services for €20 million, and he arrived with high expectations after registering 13 goals and ten assists in his final season at Villarreal.
Unfortunately, he has performed way below expectations. His competition on the right wing is Chelsea flop Christian Pulisic, but Chukwueze has failed to convince coach Stefano Pioli. This season, Chukwueze has only registered two goals and one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions.
Italian football expert Di Stefano has been unimpressed with Chukwueze this season, as he believes the Nigerian attacker has not shown the level he showed at Villarreal.
“Pioli doesn’t have great alternatives as a right winger because Chukwueze has been the disappointment of the season. Only ten games played from the start and few minutes for a player who hasn’t shown the qualities he showed with Villarreal,” Di Stefano said per Pianetamilan.
Chukwueze has to start producing good performances as soon as possible. He can be pardoned for his poor numbers this season because he just moved to a new country.
However, if he does not impress next season, the Rossoneri will start shopping for a replacement.
