Report – Jose Peseiro linked to first job after Super Eagles exit

Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro has emerged as a contender for his next coaching role since departing from his position with the Super Eagles, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

The 63-year-old and the Nigeria Football Federation failed to reach an agreement on a new deal, resulting in his departure following the expiration of his contract.

Consequently, the football federation has shifted its focus towards finding a new individual to fill the Super Eagles role.

However, Peseiro, the former Sporting CP manager, has reportedly expressed interest in a club management role in South Africa, particularly with Kaizer Chiefs.

Peseiro’s successful stint with the Super Eagles, leading them to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, has attracted interest from Zamalek SC and the Algeria national team, both eager to secure his services.

Despite being a free agent, Peseiro has indicated a preference for rest before making any decisions about his future. Currently, he has been spotted enjoying a holiday in Spain with his wife.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Peseiro could be eyeing a return to football, with Kaizer Chiefs emerging as a potential destination.

If he were to join the team, changes to the technical staff may occur at the end of the season. Interim coach Cavin Johnson could revert to his previous role as Head of Youth Development Academy, while a new coach is expected to be appointed by the club.
