Super Eagles’ former coach, Jose Peseiro, is reportedly in discussions to take over as the head coach of the Cameroonian national team, as reported by Soccernet.ng.
Following his departure from the Super Eagles, Peseiro has been linked with coaching positions in Algeria and a potential move to South African club Kaiser Chiefs.
Recent reports suggest that Peseiro is being considered as a replacement for Rigobert Song as the head coach of Cameroon. Negotiations are said to be underway between the Portuguese tactician and Samuel Eto’o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation.
It is rumored that Peseiro is seeking a monthly salary of $100,000, nearly triple the amount earned by Song. Eto’o is reportedly lobbying the Cameroonian government to meet Peseiro’s salary demands.
After an impressive performance at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria, Peseiro failed to reach an agreement with the Nigerian Football Federation regarding his contract extension. The 63-year-old coach had requested a monthly salary of $120,000, while the federation was only willing to offer $80,000.
Peseiro’s potential move to Cameroon marks a significant development in his coaching career and could see him lead the Indomitable Lions in future international competitions.
