“Almost there” – Francesco Calzona heralds Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia’s turn of form

Goals from Kvaratskhelia and Raspadori meant Napoli’s win over Juventus takes it to five straight home wins for the Napoleans against the Old Ladies at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Napoli’s interim head coach, Francesco Calzona, has revealed that the club’s attacking duo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen are close to hitting top form, Soccernet.ng reports.

The attacking pair have hit form of late, with Kvara involved in four goals in his last two games, and Osimhen’s output in his last four games has seen him score five goals.

Osimhen missed a penalty late in the game but Giacomo Raspadori’s rebound was a respite for the Nigerian striker as the Italian’s goal made all the difference.

Despite the penalty miss, his coach maintains that he and Kvaratskhelia are close to being in tip-top form and played up their importance as Napoli look to make up for lost ground in the Italian Serie A.

“They are two very strong players, fundamental for this team. They went through a difficult time, but now they are almost back on their levels. I would also like to talk about the others, in the difficult moments of the game it came out. Everyone who comes in gives me a hand, they were all ready to get in. These are important signs. It starts from here,” the coach of the Slovakian national team said in quotes revealed by Sosfanta.

Napoli are now closing in on the European spots on the league table with eleven games to play, but Calzona played down expectations on the team.

“It would take a long time and we have to speed up and memorize as many notions as possible. We came back into the game for the high-ranking positions. With Torino, we must make a result even if it will not be easy. There is still time for Barca,” the 55-year-old added.

Napoli are currently 7th on the Serie A table, three points below Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta who occupy the qualification spot for the UEFA Conference League.
