Nigerians abroad: Ebere strikes in Uruguay; Kadiri, Osimhen, Said in goal rush in Belgium, Italy, Denmark

Soccernet.ng monitored dozens of matches that could potentially involve Nigerian players on Sunday, February 25th.

Here are the most eye-catching highlights:

Italy

Ademola Lookman appeared from the bench, while Samuel Chukwueze played no part as AC Milan and Atalanta shared the spoils following a 1-1 draw at the San Siro.

Emmanuel Akinsanmuro delivered an eye-catching debut performance for Inter Milan in the Serie A leaders’ 4-0 demolition of Lecce.

Given only 14 minutes on the pitch, the former Remo Stars teenager won three duels and made a key pass as Inter continued their match towards reclaiming the Scudetto from Napoli.

Napoli’s struggles, on the other hand, continued as the champions were forced to a 1-1 draw at Cagliari.

Victor Osimhen, following his equaliser against Barcelona in midweek, opened the scoring for Napoli in the 65th minute, heading home a delicious Raspadori cross.

The Super Eagles striker was replaced in the 85th minute, only for the home side to equalise deep in stoppage time through Angola’s Zito Luvumbo.

France

In Ligue 1, Terem Moffi’s second-half introduction did little to help OGC Nice’s cause as the club was held to a goalless draw by Clermont.

It turned out even worse for Akor Adams and Montpellier as they stumbled to a disappointing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Marseille.

Albania

In the Superliga, 22-year-old Mustapha Gbolahan opened the scoring for Kukësi, but Erzeni Shijak fought back to secure a 2-1 victory.

Down in the First Division, Lagos-born Peter Mandela Itodo sealed a 2-0 victory for Luzi 2008 against Burreli with a clever stoppage-time finish.

Belgium

In the First Division A, Jordan Torunarigha was action in for KAA Gent, while the quartet of Chidera Ejuke, Alhassan Yusuf, Victor Udoh, and George Ilenikhena all featured for Royal Antwerp in their thrilling 2-2 draw.

Udoh assisted Ilenikhena in netting a second-half equaliser after both came off the bench to make their impact.

In the Challenger Pro League, 20-year-old Victory Beniangba saved the day for KRC Genk II as he netted a late equaliser in their 1 – 1 draw at home to Lommel.

Elsewhere, former Flying Eagles star Tochukwu Nnadi assisted the opening goal for Zulte Waregem, but Attah Kadiri struck twice to hand Francs Borains a 2-1 win in Boussu.

Denmark

Ibrahim Said delivered a man-of-the-match performance to help Viborg secure a share of points in their 2-2 draw with Hvidovre.

Said assisted his side’s first equaliser before he levelled the scores himself again in the 95th minute.

India

Former Midtjylland striker Rilwan Olanrewaju Hassan made all the difference for Sreenidi Deccan as he scored both goals in their 2-0 victory over Namdhari in an I-League fixture.

Uruguay

After scoring on his Copa Libertadores debut in midweek, Christian Ebere was on target on his full league debut for Nacional, grabbing the equaliser in the club’s 1-1 away draw at Liverpool.

United States

In the MLS, Tanitoluwa Oluwaseyi assisted the winning goal for Minnesota United in their 2-1 away victory at Austin.

At the Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, Houston Dynamo began their MLS campaign with a thrilling 1 – 1 draw with visiting Sporting KC.

Ibrahim Aliyu laid on the assist for Houston Dynamo’s equaliser in the 69th minute after Erik Thommy had given Sporting KC the lead eight minutes earlier.
