WATCH: Napoli fans in Abidjan to support Osimhen in AFCON 2023

Osimhen is one of the most adored figures in Naples, and Napoli fans in Cote d’Ivoire are solidly behind him ahead of the AFCON

Napoli fans were spotted in Cote d’Ivoire to support Victor Osimhen ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen has been superb for Napoli in the last two years. His brilliance was key in their Serie A triumph last season. The former Lille man scored 26 goals to spur the club to their first Scudetto in 33 years. He also carted home the Capocannoniere prize, becoming the first African to do so.

This season, Osimhen has had a slow start, registering seven goals and two assists in 13 games. His slow start has affected Napoli as the Partenopeans currently sit 9th in Serie A, 20 points behind leaders Inter Milan.

However, Osimhen’s focus is currently on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, as Nigerian fans would be hoping that he leads the Super Eagles to a fourth title.

The Super Eagles are currently in Abidjan ahead of their first game on Sunday. Still, Napoli fans have followed him to show support.

On Friday, the NFF posted a video of the 25-year-old attacker with some Napoli fans at the hotel where the Super Eagles are lodged.

Osimhen is not the only Napoli player at the Nations Cup. Midfielder Zambo-Anguissa is also with Cameroon.
