Afrobeats has been dominating the music space in recent years, and even the top footballers are fans
Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk was pictured vibing to Nigeria’s Asake’s hit song ‘Organise’ at Liverpool’s facility, Soccernet.ng reports.
Just like the number of top Nigerian players in Europe’s top leagues, Afrobeats has been growing rapidly in recent years.
Some Nigerian stars have graced the biggest stages in the world. A big example is Davido performing at the World Cup. Also, Burna Boy performed at the last Champions Final.
Tems and Rema also graced the last NBA All Star games. Meanwhile, these artistes have also gotten collaborations with some of the top artistes in America and the UK, thereby increasing the acceptance of the genre.
To further accentuate the growth of Afro-pop, in a recent video posted by English giants Liverpool, the team’s captain Van Dijk was pictured vibing to Asake’s ‘Organise’.
Organise was part of Asake’s debut album, Mr. Money with the Vibe, and it has garnered almost 900 million streams on Spotify. It was one of the biggest songs in 2022.
Liverpool currently sits atop the English Premier League with 45 points after 20 games. They are one of the favorites to claim the Premier League trophy this season.
