The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, January 14th as they look to win the AFCON tournament.
Super Eagles players, in their flight en route to Ivory Coast, have posted pictures of themselves in the local Nigerian attire as they head out for the AFCON tournament, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group A alongside Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and the hosts, Ivory Coast, with their first game coming against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
Jose Peseiro’s men were involved in two friendlies in preparation for the AFCON tournament, defeating a local Dubai club 12-0, and losing 2-0 to Sehrou Guirassy’s Guinea who have also been drawn in Group C.
The senator attire is a popular attire style worn in Nigeria. Usually made in plain cotton or cool wool with an embroidered front placket and cuff details. This style has been given a modern update by using Ankara print.
A local fit for any occasion, the Super Eagles donned the attire made up of majorly white tops and trousers, with green flowery designs on the front of the shirt, and some of the players added a green hat to go with the outfit.
All of the players donned the attire as they were cleared at the airport terminal with their luggage, looking bright and stellar in the local attire. Jose Peseiro and his coaching crew also joined in to slay in the local attire.
Victor Boniface got injured in camp and won’t be a part of the competition with the Super Eagles, and has been replaced by Terem Moffi.
