AFCON 2023: Alhassan Yusuf set to miss Nigeria vs Cote d’Ivoire clash

Alhassan Yusuf won the hearts of many Nigerian football enthusiasts with his impressive 68-minute cameo in Nigeria’s clash against Equatorial Guinea

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has confirmed that the Royale Antwerp player will be unavailable for tomorrow’s game against Cote d’Ivoire, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

The former Tiki Taka FC player was stretchered off during Nigeria’s opening match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against Equatorial Guinea.

Responding to Soccernet’s inquiry about Yusuf’s condition after a scan, Peseiro stated that the defensive midfielder won’t be ready for the Ivory Coast match but might be available for the subsequent game.

“Yusuf is out from tomorrow’s game, there are no other injuries, it’s a good news from Yesterday. But for this match, he [Alhassan Yusuf] is not ready, but the next game, he can be” he told Soccernet.ng.

Rumors are circulating that he might be ruled out for the remainder of the competition due to the injury.

As the Super Eagles aim to secure all points in the upcoming match against Côte d’Ivoire, the absence of Yusuf adds an element of uncertainty to Nigeria’s midfield.
