“This is a very beautiful feeling”- Tolu Arokodare shares excitement after heroics in Genk win over

Arokodare got off the bench to score twice in 22 minutes, and his brilliance ensured that Genk emerged as winners

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has shared excitement following his brace for Genk in their 3-0 win over Antwerp on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Genk welcomed Jupiler League rivals Antwerp to Cegeka Arena in their final game of the year on Tuesday. Coach Wouter Vrancken opted to start Yira Sor and kept Arokodare on the bench.

The Smurfs were quite solid in the first half, and they ended it with a one-goal lead thanks to a strike from Alieu Fadera.

In the second half, coach Vrancken then decided to introduce Arokodare into the game, and that decision paid off.

Arokodare scored a race within eight minutes of his introduction to seal the 3-0 victory for Genk. After the game, the 23-year-old shared his satisfaction with the result.

“I hadn’t scored twice since I started playing for Racing Genk. This is a very beautiful feeling,” Arokodare said per Voetbalbelgie.

“The supporters were fantastic, also in Anderlecht and the rest of the season. They deserve to end this year with a victory.

“We wanted to send a message after the previous match, in which things did not go as planned. We not only wanted the three points but also to show that we can play football, regardless of what everyone thinks about the referee.

“We put in a strong performance against Antwerp, and we finally got what we deserved.”

The game against Antwerp was Genk’s final game of the year. They will have a three-week break, and their next game is on January 20 against Cercle Brugge.
