Osimhen celebrates CAF POTY Award with beautiful goal for Napoli against Braga

Osimhen won the CAF Player of the Year Award on Monday, and he celebrated with a goal in the UEFA Champions League

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored for Napoli in their 2-0 victory over Braga in their final group stage game of the season’s UEFA Champions League, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen returned to action for Napoli when they welcomed Braga to the Diego Armanado Maradona Stadium on Tuesday. The Nigerian attacker was in Morocco on Monday to receive his POTY Award and was right on time for the fixture.

The Serie A Kings just need a draw to seal their spot in the round of 16, but they put up a solid performance to ensure that they claimed all three points.

The Partenopeans opened the scoring in the 9th minute via an own goal from Braga defender Serdar Saatchi. Afterwards Braga dominated the fixture, but they failed to penetrate Napoli’s defense.

Then, in the 33rd minute, Osimhen scored the second goal for Napoli. The Partenopeans had a properly planned attack, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia laying a sweet pass to Natan on the halfway line. The Brazilian then pushed forward and played a nice pass to Osimhen, who was lurking in the box. The Nigerian striker had the goalkeeper in front of him, but he improvised and finished brilliantly to make it 2-0.

The goal was Osimhen’s first in the Champions League, and he was clearly excited about breaking the duck.

However, that was all he could muster, as he was taken off in the 69th minute. The game eventually ended 2-0 in Napoli’s favour, and it sealed their place in Round 18
