‘I made a choice’- Osaze Odemwingie reveals his pick in Messi-Ronaldo debate

The best between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi has been a hot subject to jump on among the football fans

Super Eagles legend Osaze Odemwingie has weighed in on the ongoing debate over Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, expressing his preference between the two football icons, Soccernet.ng reports.

The enduring competition between Messi and Ronaldo, which began during their time in La Liga, remains a fervent topic of discussion among football enthusiasts worldwide.

Former West Bromwich Albion star Odemwingie, who previously avoided directly choosing between the two, finally disclosed his favorite as the Argentine forward.

Messi recently clinched his eighth Ballon d’Or following his stellar performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and his pivotal role in securing the trophy for Argentina.

In comparison, Ronaldo, with five Ballon d’Or awards, currently thrives at Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, holding the record for all-time top goal scorer with 850 goals, yet not matching Messi’s achievements.

Odemwingie, without elaborating on the reasons behind his choice, admitted that he had previously evaded the question but has now settled on Messi.

“Ronaldo or Messi? Two days ago I made a choice to continue with Messi. So that answer, I always dodge it, but now I say Messi,” he stated.

In a prior report, Odemwingie revealed that his decision to stop playing for the Super Eagles of Nigeria after the 2014 World Cup was due to a knee injury that caused fatigue in his legs.

Post-retirement, the former Super Eagles forward is thriving in various pursuits, embracing a more spiritual life, completing his university degree, and progressing in his journey towards becoming a professional golfer.
