Esther Okoronkwo: Super Falcons and UD Tenerife star initiates 50k weekly reward for Nigerian talents

The Nigeria international is growing in influence for club and country after a successful year 2023

In a bid to extend a helping hand to Nigerians and individuals globally, Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has launched a pioneering Instagram talent show, Soccernet.ng reports.

The initiative, aimed at alleviating the prevalent hardships in the country, offers a stage for individuals to showcase their talents, fostering a sense of community and support.

Okoronkwo, who impressed as Nigeria defeated Cape Verde 7-1 on aggregate to qualify for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, is channeling her passion for empowerment beyond the football field.

The weekly talent show, hosted on Instagram, is open to Nigerians and individuals worldwide, providing an opportunity to win 50k every Friday.

“I’ll go live every Friday at 7 pm my time GMT for people to showcase their talents and possibly win 50k,” Okonkwo announced on her Instagram account.

The inaugural edition of the talent show took place on Friday, with a certain Moses Olufemi emerging as the first winner, rewarded with N50,000 as promised.

Participation in this uplifting talent show is inclusive, as Esther encourages individuals to join her Instagram live sessions every Friday. Participants can exhibit talents in singing, dancing, acting, sports, and various other categories.

Viewers and participants engage in the comments, judging the showcased talents and fostering a vibrant community around the initiative.

The Super Falcons sensation expressed her satisfaction after the successful launch, stating, “Tonight was really fun, and I hope to see y’all again next week.”

Esther Okonkwo’s vision for empowerment extends beyond the football pitch, creating a platform for talent recognition and financial support for those in need.

It would be recalled that Okoronkwo was a member of the Super Falcons squad that reached the knockout rounds of the 2023 FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Tenerife forward has stepped up her importance to the Nigerian women’s national team after she helped the former African champions dispatch Cape Verde (7-1 on aggregate) to qualify for Morocco 2024.

The 26-year-old attacker scored two goals as Nigeria defeated the Island nation 5-0 in Abuja and netted the equaliser as the Falcons came from behind to record a 2-1 win in the return leg in Praia.
