The Nigerian forward has been a revelation in Ligue 1 after arriving from the less-fancied Norwegian league in the summer
In the wake of standout performances in France, Montpellier’s Akor Adams has emerged on the radar of Italian football powerhouse AC Milan, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Serie A giants, under the stewardship of Stefano Pioli, are in search of a center forward capable of providing relief to Olivier Giroud during pivotal moments in the season.
Currently, Milan’s pursuit of a suitable candidate has been less than fruitful, with Luka Jovic failing to meet expectations and failing to make a significant impact for the Rossoneri.
Consequently, attention has shifted to Akor Adams of Montpellier, a player who aligns with the team’s requirements, says Gianluca di Marzio.
Adams, a Nigerian footballer born in 2000, boasts a robust physical stature, standing at 190cm tall. His preferred position is center forward, where he has excelled consistently.
However, he has also demonstrated versatility, occasionally featuring as an attacking midfielder or winger on either flank.
Having honed his skills in Norwegian football with Sogndal and Lillestrom, Adams accumulated an impressive record—participating in 106 games, scoring 44 goals, and providing 14 assists.
Yet, it is in France that he has truly blossomed.
Joining Montpellier in August, Adams made an immediate impact by notching a brace against Le Havre in his debut on August 13.
In 11 appearances, he has already contributed seven goals, nearly half of Montpellier’s total goals in Ligue 1 this season.
Despite this, he has yet to debut for the Nigerian national team, having only featured in two matches during the 2019 Under-20 World Championship.
In Montpellier’s recent match against OGC Nice, managed by former Milan coach Francesco Farioli, Adams showcased his attacking abilities again despite not scoring a goal.
The 23-year-old was denied a goal only by the woodwork, and he illustrated his capability to trouble opposing defences.
His knack for finding the net positions him as a potential asset for AC Milan, particularly in Giroud’s absence or potentially alongside the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker in a formidable attacking partnership.
Milan, in the summer, signed Adams’ compatriot, Samuel Chukwueze, from Villarreal, with the Super Eagles winger claiming an assist in the club’s 2-2 draw with Lecce at the weekend.
