Two Super Eagles stars, Paul Onuachu and Bright Osayi-Samuel, faced off as opponents in Trabzonspor vs Fenerbahce clash
Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu, made a significant impact as Trabzonspor secured a thrilling victory over league leaders Fenerbahce, Soccernet.ng reports.
Trabzonspor faced off against the Super Lig leaders at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Saturday, with Southampton loanee Onuachu opening the scoring in the 10th minute.
The tall Nigerian forward managed to connect with a cross and head home a goal from a challenging position.
Onuachu’s goal set the tone for the first half, with Bright Osayi-Samuel’s side unable to find the back of the net during this period.
In the second half, Turkish forward Berat Ozdemir extended the lead, while Arsenal outcast Nicholas Pepe notched the third goal just a minute later, putting Trabzonspor 3-0 ahead.
However, Fenerbahce rallied and earned a penalty in the 61st minute, which Dusan Tadic converted with a well-placed shot into the lower right corner of the net.
In the 90th minute, Tadic struck again with a beautiful effort into the bottom left corner, reducing the deficit.
Enid Destan appeared to further extend Trabzonspor’s lead with a quick response, but the goal was disallowed by the referee following a Video Assistant Referee review.
With this victory for the Burgundy Blues, they secured a spot in the top four of the Super Lig table with 19 points, while Fenerbahce slipped to second place, with Galatasaray taking the lead by just one point.
