“I’m really delighted” – Semi Ajayi joyous to be back among the goals with West Brom

West Brom centre-back, Oluwasemilogo Adesewo Ibidapo Ajayi, played ninety minutes for Nigeria in the 6-0 win over São Tomé and Príncipe.

Super Eagles central defender, Semi Ajayi, has expressed his delight after scoring on his return from injury in his club’s outing against Hull City, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 29-year-old centre-back last played for the Baggies in October and has been absent since then due to an injury, but played thirty-five minutes on Saturday at The Hawthorns Stadium.

The Nigerian scored Albion’s third goal to wrap up all three points for his side, making it five games undefeated at home for Carlos Corberan’s men, and Ajayi insisted that his team are currently playing with breaming confidence.

Speaking after West Brom’s win against Hull City, Ajayi was glad to have contributed to his side’s win.

“It’s been really good to be back with the boys and more importantly to contribute to a win. I’m delighted, the boys put in a really good shift today, so I’m delighted. I thought it was resilient. There were times when we had to dig in, and they had spells where they were on top but I think the shape and the resilience from the boys was excellent to ride through the waves,” Semi told the West Brom’s official website.

Carlos Corberan’s men have won three games in a row, and Ajayi admitted that the confidence has always been in the team, alongside the belief that they can defeat anyone they face.

“There’s been confidence from the first day of the season, we’re very much aware of the capabilities in that dressing room. We’ve got full belief in the gaffer as well. Now it’s just about putting the performances together, the team’s gelling well,” the 1.93m tall defender added.

West Brom’s win over Hull drove them to 5th place in the Championship table, a point below Southampton, and thirteen points behind Kelechi Iheanacho’s Leicester City.
