Chukwueze could return to AC Milan’s starting XI after incident in UCL game against PSG

Chukwueze watched AC Milan’s win over PSG from the bench, but he could return to the starting lineup at Lecce this weekend

Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze could return to AC Milan’s starting lineup this weekend following an injury to Christian Pulisic Soccernet reports.

Chukwueze was available for selection for AC Milan in their UEFA Champions League cracker against PSG on Tuesday.

After a two-week injury layoff, the Super Eagles forward was one of the returnees to the squad alongside Theo Hernandez and Pulisic, who missed the last game against Udinese because of fitness issues.

The Rossoneri put up a superb performance, with Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud scoring to ensure the Rossoneri ran out 2-1 winners. However, Chukwueze experienced the entire action from the bench.

Nonetheless, that could change this weekend as Pulisic sustained an injury at the tail end of the game against PSG. The extent of the American’s injury has not been ascertained, but it is unlikely that coach Pioli would risk him because of his poor injury record.

This could profit Chukwueze, the second-choice right winger, as he could be in the starting eleven against Lecce.

Chukwueze has yet to impress since he arrived in Italy. He has not registered a goal contribution in seven Serie A games. He has to start churning out the numbers as soon as possible to become a mainstay in Milan.
