Bundesliga: Boniface and Wirtz’s attacking combination helps Leverkusen break another record

Victor Boniface joined Leverkusen in the summer transfer window and Florian Wirtz has been in fine form after recovering from an ACL injury.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface, and young German sensation, Florian Wirtz have been in lethal form for Leverkusen and have heralded them to a new Bundesliga record, Soccernet.ng reports.

The attacking pair have combined for nineteen out of Bayer’s thirty in the league this season. Boniface has scored seven goals and provided five assists, meanwhile, Wirtz has scored three, providing four assists as well.

For the first time since Die Werkself gained promotion in 1979, the team has won ten games in succession in all competitions, as Xabi Alonso’s men are mounting an early Bundesliga title challenge.

Leverkusen have also scored thirty goals in the league after ten matchdays, beating their previous record of twenty-five goals. Additionally, they’ve scored at least two goals in every competitive match this season, as released by the club’s official website.

Individually, Bayer’s wing-backs have also put out incredible numbers, defensively and offensively. Set-piece specialist, Alex Grimaldo, has also scored five in the league, providing three assists as well.

On the opposite side, Dutch full-back, Jeremie Frimpong has featured in all league games for Leverkusen this season, scoring three, and setting up five for his teammates.

Only Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich have been able to stop Alonso’s men so far this season. Other than that, they’ve won every other game in all competitions, and are still unbeaten.
