Former Union SG forward Victor Boniface notched six goals in last season’s Europa League campaign

Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Boniface, has officially received his 2022-23 Europa League top scorer award, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian forward established himself as a formidable forward in the 2022-23 season campaign following his impressive performance for Union SG which includes imprinting his name in the Europa League top scorers’ chart.

Boniface, who now don the colours of Leverkusen, secured top scorer accolade after scoring six goals in the competition last season, sharing the top spot with Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.

What sets Boniface apart is his exceptional contribution of eight goals while representing Belgium’s Union Saint-Gilloise. This achievement puts him at the pinnacle of the goal charts for the tournament

In celebration, Boniface took to social media, humorously stating, “Aboki go think say na iron” in Nigerian pidgin, which roughly translates to, “My friend will think it’s iron.”

Following the 2022-23 season performance, Boniface has continued to impress with his skill on the field. In his recent Europa League match, Boniface not only scored a goal but also provided an assist in Leverkusen’s convincing 5-1 victory over Qarabag.

His outstanding abilities have garnered him significant recognition in Germany. He claimed the Player of the Month award and was named the best young player in the Bundesliga for September.
