Victor Osimhen confirms Serie A as ‘most difficult league’ in line with Cristiano Ronaldo’s insights

Victor Osimhen scooped the highest goal scorer in last season’s Italian Serie A campaign scoring a total of 25 goals.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen recently shared his perspective on the Italian Serie A, describing it as a challenging league, Soccernet.ng reports.

The view of the Nigerian international about the league echoes Cristiano Ronaldo’s earlier assessment of the Serie A which proves tough for the current Al-Nassr forward.

In 2019, BEIN quoted DAZN who the former Manchester United star revealed about adapting to the style of the league which proves difficult for strikers in the world to play in.

“I’ve adapted to the Italian league, and it’s a tough one – the most challenging for forwards. It’s a league full of quality players,” Ronaldo said.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese talisman also conveyed this sentiment to Romelu Lukaku when Lukaku moved from Man United to join Inter Milan in 2019.

Lukaku, quoting Ronaldo, shared that Serie A is renowned for having the toughest defenses globally, making it harder for strikers to succeed than even in the English Premier League.

“He told me this is the hardest defensive league in the world. He said he’d scored goals everywhere, but this was the toughest place to do it. And if Cristiano Ronaldo thinks it’s difficult, then it must be really difficult. It’s harder than England. The football is more intense there, but here everything is pattern of play.” Lukaku said to Bleacher Report.

Osimhen, who was Serie A’s top scorer with 25 goals last season, recently reiterated the league’s difficulties.

He emphasized that people may not fully grasp the challenges of Serie A from both tactical and physical standpoints.

“People don’t understand how tough it is to play in Serie A. It’s one of the most demanding leagues from a tactical and physical perspective,” Osimhen remarked, as quoted by Euro Foot.

Despite facing some injuries that temporarily kept him out of the team, the Nigerian star has maintained his impressive form from last season, scoring six goals in eight appearances for Napoli this season.
