Victor Boniface: Super Eagles star overtakes AC Milan, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City stars on MVP list

The Nigerian forward has been in sensational form over the past year or two, and his excellence has now been rewarded in his ratings

Following a recent transfer value update, Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has seen a significant rise in his market, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface, according to Transfermarkt, is now valued at €40 million to become one of the most valuable Nigerian stars in the game.

The youngster was valued at 700,000 euros in July 2022, just before he moved from Bodo/Glimt to Union Saint-Gilloise.

Following his spectacular exploits in the Belgian top flight and Europa League last season, Boniface’s valuation increased to more than ten million euros.

The 22-year-old switched to Bayer Leverkusen this summer, and his impact at the Bundesliga club has been instant.

Boniface has scored seven goals and added two assists in seven league games, and he has contributed a goal and an assist in two Europa League games.

He was named the winner of the Rookie Player of the Month for August and September, and he also won the Bundesliga Player of the Month for August.

His performance earned him his first Super Eagles call-up, and he has already made two appearances for the three-time African champions.

And following the recent transfer update, Boniface is now valued at €40 million, an increase of €28 million from his previous value.

Boniface is now more valuable than Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi (€28m), Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi (€30m), Leicester City ace Wilfred Ndidi (€25), Atalanta star Ademola Lokman (€30m), AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze (€25m) and OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi (€25m). 

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, with an estimated value of €120m, is the only Nigerian player more valuable than Boniface.

Boniface is also the joint-fourth most valuable African player, behind only Osimhen, Liverpool’s Mo Salah, and PSG fullback Achraf Hakimi (both at €65m).

Bayer Leverkusen paid €20 million to secure Boniface’s signature during the last transfer window, but other clubs will likely pay more than that to lure him away.

Reports already suggest that Newcastle United and Real Madrid are monitoring the Nigerian forward intending to move for him in January.
