Boniface claimed the award in August – his first-ever month in the Bundesliga – and repeated the feat in September.
Confirming Boniface’s triumph, Bayer Leverkusen made the announcement on the club’s official platform, X.
Outshining competitors such as RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier, Boniface’s stellar performance saw him secure a total of four goals and an additional assist for Bayer Leverkusen during the month.
Boniface’s remarkable contribution included pivotal braces in the commanding 4-1 win over Darmstadt and the resounding 5-1 victory against Heidenheim. In addition, Boniface claimed an assist in the win against Darmstadt.
As the accolades keep piling up, the determined forward stands poised to potentially grasp the Bundesliga Player of the Month award for the second consecutive time.
Boniface claimed the honour in August and has been nominated again for the award in September.
Having recently moved to Bayer Leverkusen from Belgian Pro League’s Union St. Gilloise earlier this summer, Boniface’s swift adaptation and stellar displays have solidified his place as a rising talent to watch.
Beyond his club commitments, the young striker also donned the Nigerian national team jersey, featuring prominently in their 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia during an international friendly on Friday.
Despite narrowly missing out on his first Super Eagles goal, with an unfortunate ruling deeming it an own goal, Boniface’s debut with the team earlier last month showcased his potential, having secured an assist in Nigeria’s triumphant clash against Sao Tome and Principe.
