Sporting Lagos coach, Paul Offor, celebrated his team’s first NPFL win on Monday and has demanded his team to step up to the challenges of the league, Soccernet.ng reports.
Goals from Rivio Ayemwenre and Clement Naantaum secured a historic debut win for the Noisy Lagosians in the NPFL, after gaining promotion from the NNL a few months back.
Coach Paul has delivered the goods whenever he’s been called upon, leading the club to the top-flight league, winning the Naija Super 8, and finally, securing a win in the NPFL.
Speaking after helping his club secure the win, the coach explained his excitement, highlighting how instrumental their philosophy was in aiding them to get their first three points.
“I am very excited and very happy for the players. We played according to our philosophy, I’m happy for the fans,
and for the players, I’m happy for Sporting Lagos,” the gaffer said.
In a documentary posted by the club, the ex-Warri Wolves assistant coach explained that his team will need to adapt to the demand of playing the highest level of football in the country.
“Everybody has to step up, the players. We know that it’s a new demand, and with what we have done so far in the NNL and in the Super 8, everybody is waiting for Sporting Lagos.” he said.
With an evident club culture and a relationship between the players and the fans, the name Noisy Lagosians was coined because of their loud and never-ending support. The coach explained that the love of the game drives the fans.
He added: “They love the players, they love the club, they love what we’re building. This is what we want to build, a community of football where people can come here and forget their worries for ninety minutes. This is what we want to do in Sporting Lagos. We’re not there yet It’s a work in progress and we’ll continue to improve.”
Sporting continue their incredible journey this weekend as they travel to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to face Akwa United.
