Serie A: Osimhen breaks silence over Napoli TikTok saga

Napoli initially posted a video on their TikTok account mocking Osimhen for a penalty he missed after a goalless run.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has finally broken his silence over the viral video Napoli posted on TikTok, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old went through a series of ordeals in the past few weeks. From going on a goalless streak, to missing a penalty, to a sideline altercation with Rudi Garcia.

The peak of the bunch was Napoli’s official TikTok account posting a video mocking the Nigerian forward for pleading for a penalty, and eventually missing the penalty.

The club released an official statement, stating that the video was posted without a malicious intent, but rather was supposed to be a joke. After finding his scoring boots, Osimhen has come out to clear the air.

With different opinions from fans all over the world surprised by how the Serie A golden boot winner was thrown under the bus by the club, the Nigerian superstar has come out to support Napoli fans for the love they’ve shown.

“Coming to the City of Naples in 2020 was a wonderful decision for me. The People of Napoli have shown me so much love and kindness, and I will not allow anyone to come between us”, Osimhen said in his official statement.

The Ballon d’Or nominee shared how the support of the people of Naples are a reason he plays with so much passion.

“The passion of the People of Naples fuels my fire to always play with my heart and soul, and the love for the badge is unwavering as I wear it with pride”.

While people might have been calling Napoli out for the way they handled Osimhen’s fall out, the striker called for support on all sides.

“The accusations against People of Naples are untrue. I have a lot of friends that are Napolitans and have become part of my family and everyday life. I appreciate Nigerians and everyone for leading their voices to support and reach out to me, I’m forever grateful. Let’s support unity, respect and understanding.”

Osimhen has scored two goals in his last two games and will want to add to his tally as they take on Madrid in their Champions League mid-week clash.
