Rasheedat Ajibade: Super Falcons and Atletico Madrid star launches RAF for Nigerian youths

Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade has launched the Rasheedat Ajibade Foundation, RAF, an initiative to empower and uplift Nigerian youths, Soccernet.ng reports.

In an announcement on Friday, Ajibade shared her enthusiasm, stating,

“It has been a long time coming, and I am very excited to finally announce the establishment & launch of the Rasheedat Ajibade Foundation.”

3In the statement, Ajibade emphasised that the foundation signifies her heartfelt commitment to giving back to her community and country.

The Rasheedat Ajibade Foundation, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to empowering and inspiring young girls and boys in Nigeria.

The initiative, born out of a profound commitment to society, seeks to address various challenges the youth faces, providing mentorship, scholarships, and support in sports, education, and other realms.

Ajibade, the driving force behind this initiative, expressed her vision, stating,

“I believe that through sports, education, and advocacy, we can create a brighter future for boys and girls in Nigeria. Together, we can break down barriers and empower them to achieve their dreams.”

Career focus: Rasheedat Ajibade

Ajibade began her football career at the Lagos State based FC Robo where she featured in the Nigeria Women’s Professional League.

In her teens, Ajibade was among the most gifted players in the top flight and she consistently featured in Nigeria’s U17 and U20 teams.

In 2017, the youngster was the NWFL’s top goalscorer and she also claimed the Nigeria Pitch Awards NWPL Player of the season before securing a move to Norway to join Avaldnes the following year.

Ajibade made her Super Falcons debut in 2018 and she was a part of the squad that won the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Kaduna born midfielder signed for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in 2021 and helped the team win the Supercopa de Espana the same year and the Copa de la Reina last season.

Ajibade was the top goalscorer at the last edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and she was one of Nigeria’s brightest stars at this year’s World Cup.

On Wednesday, Ajibade scored a fantastic volley to help the Super Falcons seal a 1-1 draw with Ethiopia in the first leg of the Olympic Games qualifier.

The 23-year-old star will play a crucial when the two teams meet for the second leg on Sunday.
