Pressure for Chelsea? EPL giants sent scouts to monitor Osimhen against Saudi Arabia

Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move away from the Diego Maradona Stadium following a controversial TikTok video saga with Napoli

English Premier League giants, Liverpool, reportedly dispatched scouts to observe Nigerian star Victor Osimhen as he featured in an international friendly with the Super Eagles against Saudi Arabia, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Napoli star found himself entangled in a tense situation with his club, sparking speculation about a potential departure following a controversial TikTok video released by the Italian side.

Although the commotion subsided, the uncertainty surrounding his contract renewal remains unsettled, raising the possibility that Gli Azzurri may opt to sell the striker promptly to avoid compromising on his price or allowing him to depart for free.

In recent developments reported by English media outlet, TBRFootball, Jürgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, appears keen on offering Osimhen an escape route from Napoli.

Klopp is reportedly considering signing him, provided the deal aligns with the club’s budget and expectations. As a sign of their interest, scouts from Liverpool were purportedly dispatched to scrutinize Osimhen’s performance during the Super Eagles’ clash against Saudi Arabia.

Despite Osimhen’s inability to find the net against Roberto Mancini’s squad in the said friendly and sustaining a minor injury that led to his substitution for Terem Moffi, his impressive record of six goals in eight domestic league appearances and a recent hat-trick in Nigeria’s resounding 6-0 victory over São Tomé and Príncipe has captured the attention of various top-flight football clubs. Notably, Manchester United has previously shown interest, making Osimhen’s Premier League dreams closer to reality.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, initially seen as a strong contender for Osimhen’s signature, is likely to face stiff competition from Liverpool when the transfer window opens.

This sets the stage for an intriguing battle for the striker’s services if he will follow in the footsteps of his idol, Didier Drogba or rather consider the best option for his camp.
