Opportunity for Olorunleke? Enyimba goalkeeper arrives Super Eagles camp after Uzoho’s Saudi Arabia howler

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 2-2 draw following a deflection from Calvin Bassey, and a costly error by Francis Uzoho

Soccernet.ng can confirm that Enyimba’s goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke, has joined the Super Eagles’ camp following their international friendly against Saudi Arabia.

The Nigerian-based goalkeeper should have been in camp by Wednesday but faced some unknown delays preventing his arrival before the match against Saudi Arabia.

However, after Francis Uzoho’s blunder in the game against Saudi Arabia, sources within the camp suggest that coach Peseiro may be contemplating other goalkeeper options as they prepare to face Mozambique on Monday.

This presents an opportunity for the Portuguese tactician to explore alternative goalkeeper choices, which include Madueke Okoye, Adebayo Adeleye, as well as the newly arrived Olorunleke Ojo, for the upcoming clash against the Mambas.

The Super Eagles settled for a 2-2 draw against the Green Falcons, with Uzoho making an unfortunate mistake that led to Saudi Arabia’s first goal.

The 24-year-old Nigerian international accidentally deflected a ball from a set piece into his own net during the second half of the match, giving Roberto Mancini’s team the lead.

Following the game, it was a night to forget for Uzoho, who faced significant criticism on social media platforms, particularly related to his inability to save a long-range shot from Thomas Partey, which contributed to Nigeria losing their World Cup qualifying match to the Black Stars of Ghana.

With the Mozambique match approaching, the pressure is building in the Super Eagles’ camp regarding which players to consider in their preparations for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
