Three players were involved in the tie, but they shared the spoils
Super Eagles striker Henry Onyekuru scored his first goal for Al Feiha in their 1-1 draw against Odion Ighalo’s Al Wehda, Soccernet reports.
It was a case of Nigerian brothers at war when Al Feiha visited Al Wehda at the King Abdul Aziz Stadium in Mecca. Ighalo was in Al Wehds colours, whil Onyekuru and Anthony Nwakaeme lined up for Al Feiha.
The visitors had a very good start, Zambian international Fashion Sakala proved to be a tough customer for Al Wehda. Eventually, his work rate yielded fruits midway into the second half.
The forward went on a mazy run and drove deep into the home side’s area in the 23rd minute. He struck a strong shot that was parried away, but Onyekuru was at the end of the rebound to strike the ball into the net to make 1-0 in what was his first goal for the club.
Al Feiha held their lead till the second half. Ighalo did not get a lot of breathing space in Al Wehda’s attack. He put himself up and about and had a few good looks, but he failed to score.
Nonetheless, Jawad El Yamiq scored the equalizer for the home side in the 76th minute to ensure an interesting end. But they had to settle for the 1-1 draw. All the Nigerian players involved in the tie played the entire 90 minutes.
