Neymar JR: Leverkusen’s Boniface reacts as his role model faces long injury spell

Al Hila star will likely be out for the rest of the season following an injury he picked up during Brazil’s clash against Uruguay

Nigerian footballer Victor Boniface, with two caps for the Super Eagles, recently reacted to the extended injury spell that Brazilian superstar Neymar Junior will face, Soccernet.ng reports.

Neymar, who recently made a high-profile move from Paris Saint-Germain to Saudi club Al-Hilal is Boniface’s all-time football idol, favouring him over Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

With his outstanding play in the German Bundesliga—scoring eight goals in his first eight games—the Nigerian star is beginning to emulate his idol.

Meanwhile, during Brazil’s World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay, Neymar suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in a 2-0 defeat. This injury could keep him sidelined for the rest of the season.

In a show of solidarity, the Bayer Leverkusen forward shared an image from Neymar’s Instagram page with the caption ‘Fé,’ which means ‘faith’ in Brazilian Portuguese.

Boniface used a praying emoji in his repost to convey his support for Neymar during this challenging time on his instagram story.

Boniface has previously shared his dream of sharing the same stage as Neymar, but Neymar’s recurrent injuries raise uncertainty about when, or if, that dream will become a reality.
