“It’s not down to me” – Boniface speaks on Leverkusen’s success since he joined the club

Boniface joined Leverkusen from Royale Union-Saint Gilloise on a deal worth twenty-two million euros in July.

Super Eagles striker, Victor Okoh Boniface, has refused to take all the credit for Leverkusen’s rejuvenation this season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Leverkusen have won all but one of their games in all competitions this term, and are currently to of the German Bundesliga after seven matchdays.

The Nigerian striker has been a pivotal part of the club’s success this term, scoring seven goals and setting up another two in just seven games for the Bay Arena faithfuls.

Despite being an instrumental part of that, the 22-year-old admits Die Werkself’s success is not down to him, but rather, down to the work the whole team has done.

“It’s not down to me. Leverkusen signed six or seven players, and mine is to help the team and they’re doing the same. This is not just about me, it’s also for the team, “ he told OmaSports TV.

The Super Eagles forward admitted that he somewhat has found life surprisingly easier than he expected in Germany.

“Coming to a top club like Leverkusen, playing for the first team, and helping the team has been good. For me it’s a surprise, but it’s football, anything can happen.”

He also heaped praise on the Coach for how he’s heralded the team. He added;

“He’s a great guy, great coach, and a great football player. The passion is there and he knows what he wants. Working with him makes me happy.”

Boniface will be in action for Nigeria during the International break as they take on Mozambique and Saudi Arabia.
