Osimhen is one of the biggest names in world football, but he has always shown love to fans and friends off the pitch
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has admitted that he is a welcoming person, but he does not shy away from repaying evil deeds that have been done to him, Soccernet reports.
Osimhen’s story is a quintessential one of grass to grace. The 24-year-old striker has gotten better over the years, and he is now considered one of the best strikers in the world.
After the 2015 Under-17 World Cup, where he scored ten goals, Wolfsburg snapped him up. But he failed to reach the heights expected of him and had to leave for Belgian club Charleroi. He impressed in Belgium and sealed a transfer to Lille afterwards.
After a good season that saw the Super Eagles star register 18 goals and six assists in 38 games, Napoli coughed out a record €75million to coop his services.
In Naples, Osimehn had a slow start majorly because of injuries, but he picked up the pace in his second season with 18 goals and six assists in 34 appearances.
However, last season, the 24-year-old outdid himself, helping Napoli to the Scudetto and a quarterfinal finish in the Champions League with 31 goals and five assists.
Osimhen’s performances on the pitch have made him a darling at Naples, and the connection between him and the fans is evident. Last season, fans were in front of his house even till midnight because of his role in their Scudetto win.
The Nigerian hitman also returns the love as he always stops to take pictures with fans. Despite his fame, Osimhen has been quite accommodating. In a recent interview, he admitted that he is humble and cares for people around him, but he only does that to genuine people.
“I’m humble, I show love because it’s boring to be proud,” Osimhen told Korty EO.
“I can chill with anybody so long as I have my security around. However, I can sometimes be mean in a certain kind of way.
“For example, someone cannot do me evil and expect me to pay them with good. I will pay evil for evil.”
Osimhen has broken Serie A goalscoring records set by football greats like George Weah and Samuel Eto’o. If he continues at his current rate, he could be one of the best players of all time in the coming years.
