Enzo Maresca rewarded Kelechi Iheanacho with a start after the striker scored in his last two games from the bench to keep Leicester on top.
Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho found the back of the net in Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Stoke City, helping them to the best-ever start by a team in the Championship, Soccernet.ng reports.
Leicester City coach, Enzo Maresca, recalled Kelechi Iheanacho into the starting eleven after the striker got just forty minutes of game-time in his last two games, scoring in both games despite getting limited minutes.
The striker repaid his manager’s faith at the King Power Stadium, sending his team into the lead in the 25th minute. Maresca’s patient build-up play was evident as the Foxes cut through the Potters’ defence.
In-form Leicester midfielder, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall found Ricardo Pereira just outside the box. The Portuguese right-back played the perfect through-ball to find Iheanacho, and the Super Eagles talisman wasted no time in putting the ball into the back of the net.
The 27-year-old played 77 minutes before Maresca called on Jamie Vardy to replace him, with Wilfred Ndidi coming on as well. The two substitutes combined for the eventual second goal to seal all three points for the Foxes.
Two minutes after coming on, a wonderful pass from Ndidi found Vardy, who had the goal gaping and tapped home for his fourth goal in his last six games.

Maresca’s men have thirty points from their opening eleven games, a record for the best start by a team in the Sky Bet Championships, and the Italian continues to shape and propel his team towards top-flight football.
Super Eagles duo, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi will travel to join up the rest of the Nigerian team at their training camp in Faro, Portugal, ahead of the friendlies against Mozambique and Saudi Arabia.
