Victor Osimhen joined Serie A side, Napoli, from Ligue 1 side, LOSC Lille, in the 2020 summer transfer window for a fee in the region of €75 million
Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is reportedly under investigation for alleged false accounting related to the acquisition of Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, from LOSC Lille, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to reports from TuttoNapoli, the investigation was initiated by the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office after receiving documents from the Neapolitan prosecutors.
The focus of the inquiry revolves around suspicions of fictitious capital gains and financial irregularities concerning Osimhen’s transfer to Napoli.
Osimhen joined the Gli Azzurri in the 2020 summer transfer window for a fee in the region of €75 million and has since then been a formidable forward for the Naples-based club.
However, reports has revealed that there might be some irregularities in the deal which would have Investigators thoroughly examining the financial records and transactions associated with Osimhen’s purchase to determine whether any fraudulent activities or misrepresentations occurred.
It is essential to emphasize that this investigation is part of standard legal procedures to ensure transparency and accountability in financial matters related to football transfers.
While Osimhen—although has apologized—is facing dressing room issues over his attitude towards coach Rudi Garcia during Napoli’s tie against Bologna, trouble looms for Napoli over alleged misrepresentation on Osimhen’s transfer deal which if guilty of, may see the Nigerian eventually moving away from Napoli.
