Rewatch: Chukwueze’s 15-minute cameo for Super Eagles proves why he should start Milan’s Inter and Newcastle tie

Super Eagles star, Samuel Chukwueze, has yet to make his first start since sealing a deal to join AC Milan from Villarreal, Soccernet.ng reports.

Chukwueze garnered significant interest from Rossoneri during the summer transfer window, eventually making the move from Villarreal to San Siro with a contract that extends until 2028.

However, the Nigerian winger has had limited playing time in his first three Serie A matches, with Christian Pulisic emerging as the preferred choice for Stefano Pioli.

Pulisic, the United States international who joined AC Milan from Chelsea for around €20 million, has quickly made an impact, scoring two goals in his initial three appearances for the club.

While previous reports outlined when Chukwueze is expected to make his debut for the Red and Black, his recent performance during international duty highlights what Pioli might be missing in his attacking lineup.

Despite Peseiro’s tactics seemingly suiting Chukwueze’s style of play, the winger did not earn a starting spot for the Super Eagles under Jose Peseiro.

However, as a substitute, Chukwueze made a significant impact. Entering the game in the 73rd minute for Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, he provided an excellent assist for Victor Osimhen’s third goal of the match and sealed the victory with another goal, capitalizing on Victor Boniface’s pass.

With a highly anticipated Milan Derby against Inter Milan and a UEFA Champions League group game against Newcastle United on the horizon, Chukwueze’s impressive international performance suggests he could see more minutes on the pitch for AC Milan in the near future.
