Nigerians abroad: Moffi, Beniangba at the double; Boniface scares Bayern; Ndidi’s Foxes bruise Saints

Soccernet.ng highlights some of the best club performances from Nigerian players in Europe on Friday.

Sam Edozie and Joe Aribo featured for Southampton in their 1-4 home defeat against Leicester City, who had Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho in action.

Edozie scored in the 25th minute to make it 1-2 for the Saints after Vardy and McAteer had given Leicester a two-goal lead.

Ndidi then netted a stunning goal just before halftime to restore the Foxes’ healthy advantage before Mavididi rounded off the win with a second-half strike.

In the Bundesliga, Victor Boniface gave a decent performance as Bayer Leverkusen forced their hosts Bayern Munich to a 2-2 draw.

Boniface, Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Month and Player of the Month awards winner for August, had a goal ruled out for offside.

But head coach Xabi Alonso and his men will be pleased with a share of the spoils earned through a last-gasp penalty from Palacios.

In the French Ligue 1, Terem Moffi delivered a man-of-the-match performance as OGC Nice carved out a stunning 2-3 away win at PSG.

Kylian Mbappe netted a brace for the Parisians, but Moffi scored the opening and winning goals and also assisted the other to lift the visitors to only their second win of the campaign.

In the Austrian Liga 2, Reinhard Azubuike Young opened the scoring for Admira but home team Floridsdorfer AC turned it around to claim a 3-2 victory.

Elsewhere, Kingsley Dogo Michael provided the assist to Leoben’s consolation strike in their 1-2 loss at home against Grazer AK.

In the Belgian Challenger Pro League, Victor Beniangba fired two fine goals for KRC Genk II but it did not help them avoid falling to a 2-4 defeat to Zulte Waregem.

In the First Division A, Alhassan Yusuf came off the bench to help Antwerp seal an impressive 0-3 away win at Westerlo.

Over to Estonia’s Meistriliiga, where Ahmed Adebayo was the hero for Tammeka as he smashed a brace in their 3 – 0 win at home to Trans.

In the Latvian Virsliga, Oluwatimilehin Abiodun Ogunniyi was among the goals for Auda as they cruised to a 3 – 1 win over Metta.

In Malta’s Premier League, Sunday Akinbule netted Marsaxlokk’s fourth goal in their 5 – 1 triumph over Naxxar Lions.
