“I can’t remember”- Milan’s Chukwueze aims to reunite Super Eagles with fans in Sao Tome victory

Samuel Chukwueze, who joined AC Milan from Villarreal in the summer, will be looking to make his 29th appearance for the Eagles on Sunday

AC Milan forward, Samuel Chukwueze, is determined to reunite the Super Eagles and its fans through a victory over São Tomé and Príncipe in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Soccernet.ng reports.

The match which will be the last 2023 AFCON qualification match is set to take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Despite already securing qualification for the 2024 AFCON, Nigeria is looking to finish at the top of Group A, with Jose Peseiro’s troops currently leading the group with 12 points, holding a two-point advantage over second-placed Guinea-Bissau.

Speaking in Uyo, AC Milan winger Chukwueze revealed the spirited performances during training sessions, which he believes will secure a victory for the 2013 AFCON champions in Uyo.

“It’s always an amazing feeling to be in the Eagles team. The atmosphere in camp is great, and every player is ready for the game. It is the first time in a while that I’m seeing players fight in training. It’s a great feeling,”

On the game, the AC Milan winger said, “We plan to win the game, which is very important that we win the game even if we have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations.”

“I can’t remember the last time we won a game at home in Nigeria. A win will draw our fans closer to the team as we prepare for the World Cup qualifiers in November,”
