“He is in the top three”- Ex-England coach makes case for Osimhen’s inclusion in Balon d’Or and FIFA Best nominations

Osimhen has been brilliant for club and country in the last two years, and he just continues to garner applause for his performances

Former England coach Fabio Capello has stated that he sees Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as one of the best three strikers in the world currently, Soccernet reports.

Osimhen has been superb in the last two years for club and country. The 24-year-old prolific goal poacher scored 31 goals in 39 games for the Partenopeans last season to help them win their first Scudetto in 33 years and their first-ever quarterfinal finish in the UEFA Champions League.

His brilliance earned him the best striker award in the Serie A last season and the Capocannoniere.

Following his displays, Osimhen has been nominated for the Balon d’Or and FIFA Best awards. The 24-year-old hitman is also a frontrunner for the CAF Player of the Year Award.

Ex-England boss Capello has been impressed by Osimhen, and he feels Osimhen is one of the best in the game at the moment.

“I would have been surprised if he hadn’t been included in the international awards (Balon d’Or and FIFA Best),” Capello said per Napoli Magazine.

“Osimhen, for me, is among the top three centre-forwards. Napoli are right to keep them close.”

Osimhen is already having a good season with Napoli. He scored three goals in his opening three games of the campaign, and he would be looking to continue with that form.
