The Super Eagles midfielder just joined the Cottagers this month, and he has started showing his prowess
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi scored the second goal for Fulham in their 2-1 victory over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup round of 32, Soccernet reports.
Iwobi got his first start under coach Marco Silva when Fulham welcomed Norwich City to Craven Cottage. Also, Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey was in the defence for the Cottagers.
Fulham got a dream start, as they got in front in the 12th minute via a strike from Carlos Vinicius. Fulham had more quality on the pitch, and with Iwobi running the show from midfield, they bossed the possession. Iwobi had 64 touches and 41 passes in the game. He also had two tackles and won four of his six duels.
Despite dominating the play, Fulham had to wait till the 72nd minute before they got their second, and it was via a stroke of brilliance from Iwobi.
Fulham won the ball deep in Norwich City’s half, and Harry Wilson played a pass to Iwobi, who was just outside the box. The Nigerian then struck a low shot into the bottom left corner of Norwich City’s goal to make it 2-0.
However, Borja Sainz pulled one back for Norwich City in the 75th minute to make it 2-1. It eventually ended that way at Craven Cottage.
