Success was an important player for Udinese last season, but he had to start from the bench in their opening game of the season
Udinese coach Andrea Sottil has explained that Super Eagles striker Isaac Success did not star for Udinese in their 3-0 loss to Juventus on Sunday because he wasn’t fully fit, Soccernet reports.
Success played an important role for Udinese last season. The 27-year-old hitman registered one goal and six assists in 30 appearances for the Little Zebras. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury at the tail end of last season which ruled him out for seven games.
Success also missed all of Udinese’s pre-season games, only returning to the bench in their last fixture against Al Rayyan.
The Little Zebras kicked off their Serie A campaign on Sunday with a fixture against former Champions Juventus at the Dacia Arena. But it was a poor start from Udinese, as goals from Federico Chiesa, Dusan Vlahovic, and Adrien Rabiot condemned them to a 3-0 loss against the Old Lady.
Success started from the bench and was introduced in the 66th minute, and he looked decent. Udinese coach Sottil has now explained why he decided to start the former Watford striker from the bench.
“Success skipped preparation and therefore needs to be managed. He is better but does not have 90 minutes yet. But he gave weight up front,” Sottil said per TuttoUdinese.
Next up for Udinese is an away fixture at Salernitana, and coach Sottil would hope that Success regains full fitness to start as they push for their first points of the season.
